View Full Version : Going sleeper... R33 saloon rear lights?

My R33 saloon is almost ready for the road and I'm starting to think about some of the styling ideas. I want to keep the car very low key and be discreet about the fact that it's a Skyline. I've got the rear lights and centre panel from both spec 1 and spec 2 models to choose from and can't make up my mind which I prefer.

I used to think the spec 1 rear end was more subtle as the "twin afterburner" effect of the Skyline taillights isn't as strong when compared to the spec 2 but now I'm not sure if the colour coded spec 2 rear end just looks cleaner.

Here are some pictures to illustrate the options and in case it makes a difference, I'm running no rear spoiler.

Spec 1:

Spec 2:

Another option I've seen done before is to colour code the centre panel of the spec 1 rear end and the result looks like this:

Open to opinions and suggestions:)

I'd go spec 2, liking the one in jdmjimmy's post but not sure if it would work with the white?

spec 1 and tint the fook out of it will keep it from looking skylineish IMO

The car in the photo Jimmy posted has the ordinary spec 1 lights. Not sure if it's the depth of the back bumper or the colour that makes it look different.

Thanks for all the comments!

There a bit different than the twin tailpipe look you were going for!! I'v a series 2 now in silver and personally think they look much better on stock body cars, esp in white. what rims are you going for

I've got 18" Team Dynamics Drifz like the picture below:

They're staggered fitment 8.5" front 9.5" rear, think et35 all round. Have 5mm slip on spacers to fit as well.

Not the most JDM kudos but they fill the arches well and have a decent lip on them.:)

How's your project coming along?

They'll fit nicely, i havent done anything with it tbh. Just collecting up some bits for it, got a set of nismo lmgt3's for it some spacers, trying to find a cheap gtst to buy instead of building up parts as i go, don't want to strip the track 33 as i want something i'm not worried about tapping, Really need to get the finger out on both cars but sure if your not working theres no money to put into them,
get up some pics of the new wheels fitted,

I'll defo have to get pictures up! I bought a set of Juran lowering springs that I hope to get in soon too. They got good reviews for road use and give a 35-40mm drop. Was going to go the whole hog with coilovers, but I just couldn't justify the price and with this being a daily driver I was conscious of maintaining comfort levels.

The shock boots were rotten so I got a set of polyurethane replacements from a 4x4 shop for £22 delivered. I fitted them to the Koni sports on my Mx5 a few years ago as the genuine Mazda parts were a rip off and they do the job nicely.
