Some great day on the Saturday I thought,Place was fairly electric.
Sunday was flat,No buzz about the place,Dunno was it a result of the night before or the crowd to spread out or what but there was Zero atmosphere today.Hope it comes back for Punch.

Some great driving over the weekend from James,The forward pace and speed the lbd car flicks at is unreal.Charlie Geary and John Hickey were on some form in what I think is fairly standard cars???
Good to see the old dog Mike Deane back,Something serious bread in to that Deane family when it comes to building and driving cars.
Mark Willis is gonna be unreal in time to come in that 86.
And delighted for our own Carparts.ie (www.carparts.ie) drivers Pat and Sean on the sat, drove with some serious aggression.

€20 isn't dear if you're into drifting + are there for the day.
But for people that never went before + just wanted to call in for a hour or 2 to see what it's about then I think it puts some people off.

Thanks to Danni for joining Team Manfoot on such short notice + helping us take 2nd in the team event.

Was a pleasure, thanks for having me, was good to get out on track after the dramas sat with car not arriving on time for competition.

Had a great wk end, apart from not having the car there on time to compete yest but it was out of my control.
Last night was hilarious in the city, being in a group if homophobs was priceless in one of the bars when the YMCA and foreighners came in trying to chat them up!!
Paul cracking his snot after tripping over the kerb and running in front if taxis, Bart with his mr Bean dance was priceless, I can only imagine the pics on that camera!

Today was great to get a run on the track and thanks to Bart for all the annoying i gave him, can't wait for Punchestown

€20 isnt expensive for what you get now on the sunday,However yesterday you'd feel hard done by maybe just by the lack of buzz about the place!
Saturday was worth any money,Standard of drivers on Saturdays is off the scale!
Sunday needs something thrown into the mix!

Think im a little more awake now for my comment :)

Where to start, what a fucking cracker of a weekend. The talent of drivers is amazing, from Ama all the way thru Non Seed and into Pro. Ppl that stood out for me were definately Chris Barnett, shame about his car trouble, Pat Masterson for kicking my ass :) Brendan Stone for doing an all or nothing second qualify and pulling off a 77. Chris Brady was insane, was a pleasure even practicing with him, feeling him trying to come inside me ha ha ha :) Mike Deane was fair aggressive and i think defo deserved the win, altho im not sure how i feel about the last lap with James. James was pulling off all sorts of mad shit and was so much fun to drift with. Was gutted for Wez as i wud have liked to have battled him but someday ha :) Barry and Man Doorhead, holy shit some lads to drive. In fairness every driver out there got a "holy shit" or "fuckin hell" off me when watching. Great weekend of it.

As for my 2 days, what a laugh. Was so happy to get so far, my 2 goals were top 8 on sat for Pt_y2k and make superlap sunday. So im content. My superlap, ehhhhh i said i wanted to go as hard as i could so im not sad on the spin. Thanks to Julian for the pity point :) All in all confidence is high and im buzzing for Punchestown, i may not have made any podiums the weekend but got myself a fine 21 yr old trophy last night :) I love Drifting

had some weekend at pd the car broke my hart no power steering all weekend set fire to me air filter and air flow meter (thanks to shane o sullivan for a spair) and sunday after the second run of team drift the oil return pipe melted onto the wastgate so it pissed oil every where  but it was still a good laugh and i taped the wall a few times so happy out

Great weekend... Savage laff Saturday nite...

Didn agree with most of the more time calls on Sunday... Thought Larry love was hard done by twice...

Delighted for Tom Fitz on the Saturday 2nd ever event and qualified 9th o/a and made top 16...

30-05-11, 12:00
i am completely shattered....had no pit crew this weekend and its def showing now. makes all the difference if someone is there to help change tyres

again blown away by the standard of driving in the non seeded

chuck g is my legend for the weekend... the ''right so lets get one thing straight, no man is to come inside another man this weekend'' in the briefing was hillarious and the man drove really well all weekend

battle with paul mccarthy in top 8 was just awesome, really glad pd decied to allow top6 into sunday cause he diserved it.

and my rookie mistake in the top 4 not checking my tyres....but im blaming the judges lol after 4 one more times...slight vibration on my last run in top 8 then last run after one more time in top 4 they decided enough was enough...oops

saturdays abuse of the car saw my front crank seal gone, two laps practice on sunday and with the amount of oil it put out i decided its not worth blowing an engine so decided to bow out until barry mckeever offered me duanes car with duane more than happy to give me the ok., seriously cant thank them enough. and what a car!!! on boost that thing is crazy, taking off the line in 2nd lol and duane telling me ''dont be afraid to hold her on the limiter and drop the clutch off the line then boot to the floor the whole way round''. just shows the tallent that duane has taming that car, the lad will go far.

everyone in pro class are awesome. james deane is unreal, makes it look easy. dan moorhead another of my favourtes for shear agression and angles. sound of jp's car. Chris brady was on it all weekend, perfect qualifying lines everytime he was on the track, no doubt he will pick up a win very soon.

had a great weekend, cant wait for punchestown, just to sort a few bits in the car first but she performed well the weekend

30-05-11, 12:08
Had a great laugh on Saturday, wasnt too impressed by the the track initially, thought it was too slow and technical.
But after watching a few good runs through it, Chuck G!! I changed my mind!

Some very impressive drivers in the amateur and non seeded.

Thought Brian got on great in the mx, seemed to handle it well, as I know how difficult that can be! Twitchy little fuckers!

Gem as usual was giving it loads!

Willis, for his first event when the car was actually driving with power got on seriously good! Will be one to watch this year I think!

Dan's S15 was one of the nicest looking and presented cars there I think, followed closely by marks S15 which looks sweet too, dont spray it Gem, the grey looks cool!!

Had too miss Sunday as the funds wouldn't allow another day!

Cant wait for Punch!!

30-05-11, 12:25
Sun burnt, covered in dirt from sitting down, great curry chip for breakfast and
the drifting wasn't half bad!!

I went down sat and had a great day, chuck fully deserved the high qualifing score IMO as he was the first to really horse the front of the car in to the first clip and then run the wall on the second clip, alot of great driving there as it was a tricky course .thought pat masterson was savage on the twin battles, real old school aggression ala ffrenchy or johnny Murphy style.was a good days drifting but I enjoyed ennis more for some reason maybe it was because you were closer to the track or the lack of drifting for a while.also what the fuck was the story with the sunburn!!!!have a big beef tomatoe head and it was cold and cloudy for most of the day,Saturday is deffo the day to go spectate IMO for a bit more excitment probably because the track layout is new to everyone

Just on the judging issue.
Its no secret that Ive knocked pd judging in recent years.
But fuck me Sunday was some bullshit,Bon Bon couldnt score anyone a 9 cos he had given james a 9? No disrespect to James but how many times did he use this excuse?
Absolutely no taking from James's run btw as it was the finest lap I'd seen all weekend,Just some serious bullshit calls yesterday from Bon Bon.
Julian was ok'ish. Some grey areas too.
Theres alot to be said for Kieran and Pedan,Harsh as Kieran is he's been calling it spot on in recent times and Pedan's also on par with him.

Just my views on this,No personal beef or anything and I understand Pedan was away etc!

<Shane>
30-05-11, 17:41
Went down sunday thought it was good but compared to recent years it really was lacking atmosphere as said, which I cant really understand.

Judging could have been better

30-05-11, 18:04
On another note,To the lads putting their finger out the window when exiting the course,
WTF is that all about,Most of the lads who done that lost the car just before shut off!
Hero among zeros!

keith_b
30-05-11, 18:07
Was only down on the sunday but i taught the judging wasnt great on a few counts and this bullshit of the crowd vote screwing james deane in the last two events. But in saying that alan deserved the win on the first run but was def a one more time after that in ennis. As for sunday james and mike needed a one more time. As said a few posts back why not use d mac when hes there.

James Deane RX7
30-05-11, 18:33
Great weekend, everyone was pushing really hard again this weekend. The battle's i saw were very aggressive and close! I was delighted with the car didn't miss a beat all weekend. So happy to be back in a s body. 100times easier than the rx7.

Would have liked to have a OMT with Mike but to be honest i think we would have written off the cars trying so hard lol.

Over the weekend I think Kieran was the most solid judge. But I must say i'm not a fan of the crowd vote at all. Fair enough it gets the crowd involved but its hard to be beaten over the crowd vote. they will never be on my side anyway haha. But I think they should ask the crowd for there opinion but not a vote. the judges are there to do there job.

But then if theres no crowd theres no drifting.

Overall great weekend. Well done to all :)

Baz_180
30-05-11, 18:55
I was only down on Sunday and was very surprised how quite it was there, I've defo be going for the two days any more. Mike Fitz is some man for the commentary himself and Dave are a great team! Mike will be a loss when the car is ready (maybe wire a mic up to the fc??). Standard of drifting is crazy as always I'm beginning to think James Deane is a drifting machine. Great to see team drift again! Roll on Punchestown

DaveM-sport
30-05-11, 19:05
Crowd vote is a joke.

If its to get the crowd going, then its failing miserably. There's nothing worse to kill the atmosphere than asking who wants to go through with total silence as a response!
And even when a response is got, its only really down to which driver has the biggest group of friends in the crowd and who has the most cans of drink helping them shout better :p

Many in a crowd that may have not been to many events probably won't know every aspect of a good run and how it should be scored too in fairness so its kinda unfair to both the drivers and the 3 judges if a good solid run is shot down by a crowd vote because the other car makes more noise, smoke and just gets closer to a wall clip even if the other clips are totally missed.

An opinion from the crowd and other ways of trying to build the atmosphere is all it needs.

Good weekend, glad it stayed dry for us even some sunburn thrown into the package, great job!!..

Car went well, its starting to work well for me, better tyre choice maybe for punchestown if we make it there...

Real good battles in Semi Pro.. lots of lads out there going really well, wont start to list as their is so many, chuck g was a hero all weekend, driving the absolute bag out of his car and making top 16 sunday what a result!! Chris Burrnet felt bad for your car letting you down, if you had of had your own car for qualifyin sunday morning you would have eased the top 16 no probs after saturdays performance!

Michael Swan was in serious form, drove really well, as did dan and barry and larry love, i think everyone was driving very very well for such a tricky track, it was great fun loved it and delighted to make my first PD Final, the Deane lads are always on top form and i just couldnt catch Mike, maybe next time :)

Great weekend , was down the Sat and Sunday. Gutted for Jamie Rus who didnt even make it onto the track  Chuckster was unreal.com....fair play to him!! I think James should have won his lap against Mike. Also gutted for Wes but thats drifting and thats what makes it so exciting.. Super lap was great to watch also...From a Spectators point of view the judgeing is a bit all over the place..very little makes for a good effort it seems...its either shit or brilliant!! I thought we were all great ;)

Crowd atmostphere was gay , cant see why tho as said. €25 for a weekend pass is not alot for anyone that into drifting...Some of the battles over the weekend were pure edge of your seat stuff imo.

Team Drift is by far the most exciting!! was excellent to watch , my top went down well!! :D:D

got a few good videos and pictures....will get them up durning the week

Michael Swan was in serious form, drove really well, as did dan and barry and larry love, i think everyone was driving very very well for such a tricky track, it was great fun loved it and delighted to make my first PD Final, the Deane lads are always on top form and i just couldnt catch Mike, maybe next time :)
well done chris we couldnt stay to watch as my dad had to get home will we all head dwn as a group again good craic:):p
ps roll on punchestown

Was only down on the sunday and it was fairly quiet spectator wise. Bon Bon is a dreary prick as a judge and there were some questionable calls.

The crowd vote while I did find it pretty hilarious is a shitty system, for the second round in a row James Deane was screwed over. Personally I was delighted to see Mike win and Sinnott in Ennis but I'd rather it happened with judges calls and not the crowd being sick of James winning.

I found it was a great day out for €20 and the online weekend passes are a great deal.

As for the drivers, couldn't fault anyone really but major props to Chucky, some serious driving laaaaad. Chris Brady was on fire, J Deane's super lap was poetry in motion, there's plenty I'm forgetting but it was a savage day over all.

Another good eventful weekend!

Standard of driving was once again high on a technical track and the team drift is just shit hot!

I was supposed to be driving Jules Chambers S14 for the weekend but when the engine started missing at the start of the week and they found det damage there just wasnt time to fix the engine, map it and put in the full weld in cage. Huge thanks to Bart for the phone call Friday where he was almost insisting that I drive his car, cheers dude  Id love to have driven but if I did any damage it would eat into the budget for the RX7 so I just couldnt do it.

I arrived at the track Saturday morning at 8 o clock to do a bit of dishco music and was asked to judge the Saturday competition as Julian and Bon Bon had missed the ferry. I got a bit of a hop but just went with it and had a good chat with Kieran first on what to look for and what to score and deduct points for. It turned out to be ok once we settled in, with Darren, Kieran and myself all on the one page score wise in qualifying. Kieran had laid out a technical track once again and the risk and reward style of the first 2 clips made it great to watch all weekend. I know the effort and money everyone puts into their cars and actually getting to an event for the weekend so I understand what an important job it is and it was a privilege to be asked. Not easy though, especially with Darren roaring unspeakable shit into your ear while you tried to give your reasons for a decision ha ha! :D

Great driving again though, Chuck was going unreal, well done lad! Pat and Sean was a great non seed final and Pat done himself proud Sunday. Larry Love was a crazy man in the battles, himself and Barry's runs were epic. James' entries FTW! What a driver! A bit robbed by the crowd vote maybe but thats peoples natural tendency to go for the underdog and change. Mike Deane and Barry flying it aswell. Sounds like there was a good night in Cork Sat night! Mallow was fairly beery last night aswell! Was flat out yest doing a bit of music and commentary and passenger rides but it was good craic! Roll on Punchestown though so that I can start getting acquainted with my new bitch

I've literally only recovered now:) Great Weekend!

Had 20mins (If even) sleep before hitting the mic on Saturday due to finishing a set in Dublin late but the talent and commitment of the driving from the amatuer and semi-pro guys woke me right up!

Delighted that my Bro's MX5 finally worked (and didn't blow up)
And delighted that Eoin O'Sullivan is where he belongs, in Prodrift!
Proud of Sean Manning and Pat Masterson finally getting the rewards they deserve for the effort they have put in and the talent they have behind the wheel.

To all the rest of the competitors on Saturday, you all gave me plenty to talk about and showed the future of drifting in this country is in great hands:)

Considering I was booked for a hotel in Mallow and ended up sleeping in a hostel in Cork City (6 of us in a 4 bed) the head was ok on Sunday.

I thought the team drift was awesome and as Richie the Marshall said "it was like letting new-born calves into a field for the first time" Lunatics!:)

As for the pro class, excellent driving on a very technical track and it really goes to show you can throw any combination at these guys and they nail it by the end of the weekend.

Delighted for Chris Brady, deserved a podium, and congrats to Mike Deane on the win!
James Deane, as always, incredible!

I tried my best to build the atmosphere to the point of losing my voice but I understand that it is a long 6 hour event each day, there were a lot of hangovers and it was bitterly cold on Sunday.

All in all another awesome round.
Huge thanks to my partners in crime, Mike Fitzgerald and Darren McNamara for joining me on commentary, had such a laugh;)
And to all crew and staff for all the help

See you all at Round 3 (Which looks like, because of the long track layout, that it could be absolutely epic!)

was a good oul wkend, the extra 15mins made a big diffrance in practice i got to 10 laps insted of the normal 4, made no diffrance thow as i still struggled to get the first clip and on to the wall smoth i dont no how it looked from outside but i felt i was all over the place, qualfied 11th i think was happy enough with that as there was some seriouse driveing going on from everyone, was up against jamwee rocket in the top 32, from what i could see from inside the car on my lead run he would of had te advantage as i went in to deep on the first corner and was way off the first clip on transition, but then he SPUN hahahahahhahhahhahaha ah poor oul jamwee gets awfull stressed out!! then was up against yowdy in top 16 we were haveing the crack on the line and we went out for an oul spin around felt more like we were going out on a practice lap with the banter on the line, we had a good close battle from what i heard but the judges gave it to me was happy out, then next up was the big high STONE wall!! again we were haveing a laugh walking over to get in the cars for our run a big shout over "dont rub off this car i want to give it back as clean as i got it!" haha so we went out i just could not catch up to the pace of that 14 seriouse yoke! i tryed to pull 3rd comeing out of the hairpin but it felt like my clucth started slipping or my tyre were gone off, next run out i just could not get off the line with any speed i thouht i might of grabbed a small bit of a lead there with the lag thats in the 14 but no brendan was stuck to me the cunt!! went at it anyway was a decant enought run i think then i spun just after the scoreing zone and seen this 14 comeing flat out at me and just heard what stone said before out run!! grabbed reverse pulled the gear nob clean off! haha got out of the way of the mint MG s14.5 just in time was happy enough to get into the top 8, so that was me done for sat sat nite was a bit of crack in mallow and then the team karnage on sunday was some laught hitting of jay out of the corner then my clutch started slipping like a cunt drove it on anyway and in the comp had some crack we new we were not going to come anyware we were just out to purely entertain!!

was also delighted for my bro Mark to get to the top8 also in his brand newly built CS-Autos s15 car ran sweet all wkend considering it was built in 3 weeks only mapped on thursday by TDP, and suspension alighment done on friday on the way to cork in WKD, the first time mark had driven the car was friday evening accross the paddok to park it up!!

chucky was so made up ta see ya on the sunday!! and would ave given anyting 2 ave been der for no man can come inside another bit!! made alot of chat over da weekend!!

Thanks lad, ya i was going to say something similar Sunday but you could cut the tension in the Pro Briefing with a knife :) You were going well all weekend but looked stressed, i just wanted to hug ya :)

Also Kudos to Dave Egan and Mike Fitz for keeping me and everyone else entertained, i had ye in my ear on all my laps on Sunday. That radio idea is great. Mike you did a good job Judging, for the first time, pity i didnt really get to hear the chat. Darren should be a Judge for Pro's, especially funny was his Mulvey bashing :) Bon Bon makes me depressed man, cheer up. Julian seems good also, but ive NEVER agreed with Drifters as Judges. All in all Prodrift seem to be stepping it up a notch, and the weekend passes etc defo brought in a good few ppl but needs to be advertised more. Roll on Round 3.

Saturday was the best days drifting i've attended in a long while.

Early start @ 5am and didn't leave until 7ish. After watching a few practice laps from the start line i headed over to the tiers for a propper look only to get a phone call off chucky "i'm in trouble". Took it handy on the way back over thinking he just wanted wheels changed......... The viscous fan had eaten the loom and the car wouldn't turn over. Weekend would have been over before it started only for nial mac, paul twomey and a helpful few tips from another driver. As i said the minute it was fixed "at least thats the problem out of the way, roll on the rest of the weekend" How right was I ;)

From chuck_g and pat masterson, to the chap in the "daily" AE86, james deanes car with mental front camber, carpo and the team manfoot boys/girl.

Sunday however is where my only criticism lies. Its shit from a spectator point of view. Yes the drifting is better in a sense, but the non seed pro and amatuers are miles more fun to watch. The judges are well dodgy. Fair play mike deane, but only for a questionable "run it again" you were out.

The whole fans vote is bollox, Asking the fans who wants x to win... huge roar, who wants x to win... huge roar, who wants to run it again.... silence. And they ran it again. If your going to just run it again to give one of irelands favourite drifters a second chance after a shit run, don't ask the crowd and go against them.

€20 is far too much to stand on a bank with the only seating a patch of grass with nettles sticking in your hole. Getting the crowd interacting by asking for their vote, and then ignoring it, huge breaks between "events" to make the small amount of action fit until 6pm, no other entertainment while the breaks are on and no trade stands/car stands (bar 5 drift ireland cars which were mint) all make me question paying €20.

I went around the whole site trying to find a tap that worked to get water for the car after we had to drain it, only for them all being turned off, how tight do you have to be to turn off the fucking water?
One poxy tap on site working and not one steward knew one was on, just by chance we found it.

The team drift was mega, I feel for the guy who put it backwards into a pole. What i liked was barrysmotorsport being absolute muck in practice..... and then nailing it with a fine display on both runs in competition. Team manfoot being excellent! comentator giggling everytime he had to say "manfoot".

On the comentator, His background knowledge of ALL drivers, their cars, their build threads, their spec and little nuggets of info like us painting chucky's car with a roller, Respect man.

Highlight of the weekend for me was the battleship rubbing both walls in practice against james deane!

Over-all it was an epic weekend, the level of "go hard or go home" drifting across the board is thrilling to see. Bartering in the pits between crews (we swapped a few cable ties for some water) and the willingness of drivers to help others out all makes for a great weekend.

What a weekend !

Was stressed out on friday still getting my cage welded in at half 4 and then a mad dash down to fermoy to get the car logged which I just about made.

Saturday didnt start off to good as on my first practice runs I went the wrong way around cones and made a balls of things, couple more runs out and I finally got the hang of things. My first qualyifyin run went good but on my second run the intercooler pipe came off which resulted in a zero score!
I was convinced I hadnt made the top 32 and was suprised to make it in at 27.. So I went and sorted out the issue with the jubilee clip on the pipe or atleast I thought I had it sorted out , was up against John hickey in the battles and our first run was good but on the way back in the pipe came off AGAIN so I used the 5minute rule but had no tools to sort it out, fair play to gem who came runnin over to help and we used a key to try and tighten the clip back on which held for about a second and blew off again, so that was me out !

Was delighted to get the chance to go out for the team drift on the sunday ( cheers to brian egan for the call :) )

Have to say aswel that dave egan makes the events with his commentary on all the drivers and there cars, fair play dude ..

Roll on punchestown for another weekend of epic driving.

Firstly, i have to give it to PD for a great weekend.. Everything was on time and organised and even allowed for a little more practise time for the Ama/Non-seeded.. I heard alot of great feedback from drivers over the weekend praising the event!

Secondly it was my WORST weekend in PD, loosing to Gem in my first twin battle of the day was enough to bring me to tears.. Ha, not really, but i WAS pissed off!!!

Delighted Willis settled into the car, now that it has the power to spin the wheels, i thought he really had a fighting chance against Brendan Stone only for an unfortunate spin, Willis was eliminated!

The rest of the battles on Sat really showed how the level of tallent is improving at a massive rate in Irish Drifting, and i have to congratulate Pat Masterson with such a performance on the day!
Sunday was great as usual with the Pro's battling it out, and what makes it better is the fact that its so close between the top drivers, that it ISNT always the same winner! James and Mikes battle was by far the best to watch.. Literally bouncing off eachother!

We need to see more cars rubbing eachother, thats what gets the crowd pumped! We tried in the "driftireland Team Train", seen as we're not as co-ordinated as some of the other Teams, knocking off eachother around the track works better for us! We see it like 'synchronized swimming', its boring to watch.. But if they punched the heads off eachother in the pool instead, we'd watch it!!

Really looking forward to Punchestown and the rest of the season as Fermoy, great an all an event as it was, the next 3 rounds are sure to be a hell of alot more exciting and challenging!

In fairness it does look cool alright when half the team are understeering around the place and the other half are spinning and hitting stuff, shows people the real talent involved!!
