View Full Version : wheel studs cross threaded
i have my s14 only a few months now but recently saw that on my front wheels theres 3 on each side that have cross threaded and wont fully tighten up. there is 5mm spacers on the front too for clearance for the calipers.
anyone else have this problem? and does anyone have 6 good ones that they are selling because i dont feel safe sliding
its an easy fix, if your any bit handy you can fit them yourself,. you can buy them in main dealer for like 1.50 per one tops id say,
take the caliper and disk off the car, get a hammer pop out the old ones and when fitting the new ones get an open nut an thread it in, as when the nut tightens it will pull the new stud into place.
hope this helps.
ive had the same problem with my old ae11 some dope cross thread most of them so i changed them all.
only a few weeks abo did some on a friends evo so i can imagine a s14 is the same..
thanks for the info doug ,i ment the wheel nuts sorry but now ill check that the studs arent damaged aswell, did u sell the ae111
If the wheel nuts are cross threaded the studs are probably damaged aswell and probably wont tighten properly with new studs. As Doug said it is an easy enough job and cheap to fix for the peace of mind youll get from knowing your wheels wont fall off :p
