im taken delivery of a 325 tramp 2moro and the head gasket is going/gone
so shes heating up but drives perfect while cold, starts first turn of the key
and all that.

well anyways my question is should i skim the head before putting in a new
head gasket.. if it was my everyday car i would just to be on the safe side
but as this is a tramp and iv no money, do ye think id get away without it or
will it just go again and will i be wasting my time..

any info appreciated. cheers Tommy.

Its alot of work taking it off & putting it all back together to save €50!!

the head gasket only goes for 1 reason, HEAT, aluminium WARPS with the heat so yes you will need to surface the head!

taking off any head remember there is a sequence to taking a head off, the same way it should be put on other wise you can warp it that way too .any scratches nicks on the mating surfaces could cause a gasket to leak too.
but since its a bmw its defo the head has warped...you checked the oil to see if there is water mixing with it or a leak? they are also known for a sticking thermostat...my advice if its a drift tramp ...see if thermo is working [put it into a cup of hot water] if it is drill extra holes in it for extra flow or take it out.
