well my names stephen and i have been on here for a while but never bothered putting up pics of my car or the changes it has gone through .
so heres my first drift car ,

pics arent great btw off my mobile :D

my dad and one of his friends had bought it back in 2008 for doing a memorial drift day once a year for a close friend of my family who died.
when my dad bought the other half of his friend i got driving it a couple of times i got adicted and decided to buy it as my own .

so here it is before i bought it . a 1998 540i v8 bmw

and after about a year of track days in goldstone and a local track near me the clutch went .... aparently these dual mass clutchs go anyway and the best thing to do is make the flyheels solid so got that done at http://www.exact-spec.com/ and they done a tidy job i must say .... so here new clutch ... ill none of flywheel ..

have only got about 3 or 4 trackdays out of new clutch and seems perfect all of the time :delighted:

so after that been trying to do as many track days as i can ,funds permitting (i am in school)

did throw a bit of filler and grey spray over the bad 1/4 just to clean it up a bit for track days

did lower it in the back but have no pics yet as the car is out of action , something to do with emobilsors ... electrics are crazy in it :rolleyes:

ehm i cant just remember exactly my father paids halfs for it as we where doing track days together when it went .... i think it was around 400 to 500 mark oh and thesedont work welded i dont think , they have to be fixed proberly with bolts i think they said in newry ... twas worth it though the only job man :D:D

heres a pic of just a bit of filler covering the rough dents to clean it up a bit , it wasnt ment to be perfect and it didnt come out perfect i just think it made it a bit tidyer than it was :D

those girls i assume is the engine .... i found on the internet somewhere its between 280bhp and 300 i think cant find it now mines a 1998 540i v8 the engine was changed in 1997 1998 and 02 i think so unsure think its about 290bhp standard :D:D
mine had cats removed from exhaust wen i bought it so dont know if that would effect it much or not :/

well no updates really ...
Left the car away to get it sorted saturday.
He only had time to look about getting it sorted thursday , so i dont know when to expect it to be sorted really . :rolleyes:

Ok so today at work i got my dad to ring the man thats working on the car to try find the problem , as i would have no business head to talk to him ....... the problem occurred after a track day at laois a while back , the car ran ok all day ,the next day we took car off trailer and lower it on different springs and shocks was happy with the work we had done until i went to start it . The car wouldnt run , it was turnin and turning and gettin petrol but not firing and starting , at first we had thaught it could have been ignition or emobilisor as when we plugged in the car it came up security or some shite :P so found out a while back that there was a wire broke sumwhere along the lines that was fine he said he would trace it and fix it when he can we rang him today and found that someone or something had cut the wire doing to the brain :eek: i dont know if he ment a diliberate cut or just a brake but the way i picked it up was that it was a cut ..... So hoping to have the car back the weekend ... Fingures crossed

awh kind of lost with this yoke now just dont know what to do .... ehm after getting sick of waiting on a mechanic who specializes in car electronics to figure out what was rong , i decided to get on to another local enough polish fella who is seriously handy with chip tuning etc to come out and take a peep ... origonally the car wouldnt start she was turning and turning but not firing ... i got diagnostics done etc etc came up security problems ... the polish fella looked at brain and seen that their was small corrosion on the plugs ..! so i cleaned them and decide a new brain was the key :D
happy days ....:D:D

to get a new brain you must get a new key ... barrel transmitter box for key signals and then brain ... drove to toomebridge above belfast got them home put them in and .... no go !:(:(

we now have no idea why .... can anyone shine some light ???

the fellas thinking maybee i should wire the wires straight into the brain bypassing the plug to make shure its not corrosion ....

i now have another problem ! before the car was turning and turning but not starting ! now it wont even turn ! i have to have both barrels connected and wire to get her to turn ...! and when i plug the diagnostics up she cant make a link to the ecu to tell us the problem !

i just feel so lost dunno what to do ! any ideas ????

throw the engine into a cheap e36 shell and get someone tasty to wire the basics up.
you could prob bypass a load of shite on them and still have it running perfect

Theres a lad in cavan town that is a genuis with electronics and and all that stuff on european cars. Pm me if you want his number, plus i dont think you needed a new key you just needed to reprogram it.

Get an E30 and convert the engine/gearbox and stuff on it and i promise you, you going to be happiest BMW owner here :)
