overheating question???

Put a new ca18det engine in me 200sx and when i turn it over cold the heater gauge goes straight up past the red zone, even before i start her up!!

Did i wire something wrong or wat???

take out the coolant temp sensor and give it a clean. take a quick look back along the wires for any damage
