View Full Version : D.I. Exclusive - My new FD machine
I've been gone about a month now and have been seriously slacking with any updates of what I've been up to. I've been flat out working the day job and then working every night with the Gardella Racing lads on the new Camaro as well as doing any small bits and pieces to my car, the Pontiac Solstice.
So with everything finally done ready to go for Atlanta, the least I can do is give you lot the first look at my car for the rest of the season,

and on the dyno having a quick tune before the trip down south this weekend, mobile dyno is the job !. Don't think the neighbors were too fond of it though .

Looks like a good car, I like the design of the chassis and the weight balance they used. Should work well but I'd say it's a handfull to drive :)

Thanks lads, the car is awesome but very difficult to drive at the same time. Gave the wall a good belt yesterday after a very twitchy run but Im starting to figure it out now and should be good to go for my first round battle with Kyle Mohan.
Driving low powered 4 cylinder yokes for years has been bad training for big power V8's, my big man foot was causing more problems than anything else !
If the team knew I told everyone what power the car makes I'd be shot !. It is however exactly twice as powerful as my corolla so you can probably figure that out.
Well done on the qualifying Eric and best of luck in the twin battle!
Have you done much testing in the Solstice?

Thanks for all the support lads, it does make a huge difference when we're all the way over here dealing with some big names in the US scene.
I drove the car for the first time on thursday in the practice here at Road Atlanta, I've had to pretty much learn how to drift all over again between the V8 power and the very far back seating position in this car. Its very strange but I think I've figured it out and can't wait to get some more seat time .
By the time the next event comes around I should be much better prepared for battle, its nice to know that I do have car capable of challenging the top lads now and an amazing team that can keep the car running no matter what I hit it off !.

I replied on FB but meh, I was watching the practice on Friday and you looked like someone who had just gotten into the car for the first time, but it still looked solid. Some decent seat time and you and the car will be awesome! About time too

It was a very good result considering the amount of seat time you had with the car.
Could definitely see the potential in the car, no shortage of power anyway. Once you get more comfortable with the car,you be a challenging for top spots.

Well done yesterday, was unlucky about the tip early on in the top 32.
Yeah that tip was weird, I have no idea what happened to be honest. Kyle came down there about 20mph slower than I had been going all weekend and he had a higher qualifying speed than me. Soon as I went on the brakes the car took off and would not stop for anything.
Met a couple of fans in the pit afterwards and they said that his rad hose blew off and sent water everywhere underneath his car in my direction which would make a bit of sense.
Could not believe the lads got the car together and had me back out there in no time, some dudes .
Anyway, a quick pic of the only D.I stickers I have that I could put on the car. Definitely need something a bit more legible off you lads !.

i honestly think theres gointa be big results from you in this car maybe as its closer to the corolla than the scooby i dunno but top 16 was great result and i personally think it shouldnt have been run again as his maistakes were bigger anyway great result and best of luck rest of the season doing us proud:wink:

ave faith in you lad more runs ya done better you were getting and you deffo should not off went omt, forsberg proved that in his top 8 run that he was puttin way too much speed in on his follow run and not following the lead persons entry point, what i taught anyway,but best off luck for round 3 and look forward to another late night livestream ;)

yeah, was pretty easy to see on the livestream what happened thanks to them doing a nice job at slow motion replay and rewind :)
Looked like his rad hose blew as there was an immediate trail of fluid right behind him and you hit it square on and could see the rear of the car take off as soon as they hit the wet patch.
Doubt much could be noticed of what exactly was happening in the car though looking into a corner at 90mph :p
