View Full Version : using a hydro - what pads ?
just wondering if apec pads (and other standard brand pads) are good enough to lock when needed using the hydro .
Mine locks up perfect using cheapo pads from the motor factors.
I've ceramic on the back at the moment and lock up grand. Lads recommend yellow stuff

ya i saw the yellow stuff ones but they are a lot more expensive seein as ive a trade account in motor factors
whatever floats the boat, good yank of a hydro and it will lock anyway

U need to bleed it out there is still air in it once they are done proper u dont need to go near the pedal i have mine on standard pads and grooved discs and its perfect but pads dont last long

i've skyline brakes all around on my 180.

Its still airlocked! the best way to do it is using a bleeding tool, forget about using one personto dance on the pedal and the other open it. Bleeding tool FTW
sound sure i;ll give it a try and let ya's know thanks for replys:)
the cheapest of pads will lock with a properly bled hydro
el revival !
im using a compbrake hydro and apec pads with single pot s14 callipers.
the hydro is bled 110% but is shit ! Will not lock the wheels... callipers are free and smooth, sliders working and pistons clean from corrosion. Yanked it real hard other day n managed to burst a brake line underneath....lol
anyone using a similar setup that works ?

bleeding with pedal only until have real good pedal.
then pump pedal, hold, open nipple, pedal goes to floor, pull hydro, close nipple, release hydro, release pedal

bed the brakes without pulling the hydro till all air is gone. then when u have a good pedal and air free. pull hydro( dont push brake pedeal) then open bleed nipples again, repeat on each callaiper. had mine bled out in 15mins.
yellow stuff pads............

cool, ill give it a go after i replace this brake line - i fkn hate flaring lines !!
yellow stuff pads............
This :)
Also, if i were you i'd just go an get skyline rear brakes, they fit straight on an coupled with yellow stuff pads makes for an AWESOME wand.. Really worth while investment rather than dickin around with them smelly single pots.
