well folks this aint a project as such more like a progression. As ya's no i had been saving up for a slider and initially was going to spend bout 1500 on a tramp just to have bit of fun in, but havin seen jay flip his cam in mondello two months ago i began to reconsider the tramp option and sway more towards a less rough car..

i haven a great history when comes to crashes sure i've had more fuckin hits than the Bee Gee's so i wanted a car with a cage and knew my 1500 budget would do so i saved bit longer with the idea of finding maybe a 180 or s14 road car with half cage at the very least..

but haven spoken to wez a few weeks ago he broke costs down to me and told me to hold out get more money together which is wat i did..

so this leads me to the last few days, wez told me he had this and havin looked at wat it had etc i knew it was the sensible option..

SO BIG BIG THANKS TO WEZ for all his advice and guidance and for givin me a great deal....

Collected it last night and got home 2pm today and got stuck in to gettin her cleaned up, i have a long list to do before i do a day in her so ill be updating the progression as much as i can.. i have no garage and all neighbours have infants so gotta stop with the banging bout 8pm so kinda limited with wat i can get done

lil update not much is happening as sound deadening is takin FO EVA....

massive thanks to my bro for starting to wet sand the cars exterior and bigger thanks to davie for comin down with dash panels for me and fitting rear lights and making up looms for them to give me brake lights and indicators

well got custom spoiler legs made off a mate but think i have goten them made far too big so feling bit shit bout that:(:(:(

got new spoiler legs tonight and the height seems much more acceptable, tried sorting the oil leak and turns out i gotta get a new oil light pressure switch and also got the rest of the cars floor cleaned down ready for masking and a bitta primer

after this i took out the centre console parts that DAVIE kindly donated to me and began trying to alter it to allow it fit around th hydro, i quite happy with it considering i done it with an angle grinder ha ha

then finally chose this colour for the interior, i wanted MG blue but was 20euro for a 400ml tin and would have needed 4tins or so so i wasnt payin that so picked this colour off the shelf for 8.95 a 400ml tin so was well happy...

never done anythin like this before so happy wit how its comin along also tidied up lots of wiring.... and also fixed up the front end and all the loose bits of bodykit..

plans at the min are finish painting cage, laquer boot space and re fit interior

also have avcr connected and went into settings and seen boost set at 1.00 with 30% per cent duty.... is this safe??

well have this just about ready now, noticed a few minor mechanical things to be sorted before mondello mainly mani gasket..

in last few days i have

fitted new front pads,
new yellow stuff rear pads,
given the car a service,
connected the avcr
relocated boost gauge to where its more visible
lagged the cage where our heads may hit
tidied the messy wiring around coilpacks
(still have to find some suitable heat reflective covering for them)
tightened turbo bolts where they join to down pipe
and bunged any holes in the floor where too many fumes may enter

as said i still have few minor jobs to do also have to get a drivers side window reg as the drivers window not working and have checked all fuses and relays and there fine

here the interior now, cost me 128euro from start to finish so i happy with it

well got my 1st drive of the car in mondello yesterday and had a ball....wasnt sure wat to expect of it compared to the r34 but they like chalk and cheese..

started the day at .85bar boost and then the first 2 sessions ended early for me with boost pipes popping off. After shanes14 helped me out with a better quality jubile clip that problem was sorted so got out again and had a ball...

the morning session for me was all bout learning the lines as with my 1st session i was runnin too shallow into the corners and not being able to carry the drift on to the next bend..

so in the afternoon session i concentrated more on being consistant with following correct lines and managed to pop my third gear cherry a few times but car didnt really pull in third as my mani gasket and turbo gaskets started to blow badly causing the boost to drop to .5 -.6bar boost and hydro wasnt workin great either as my hydro line going to brakes is leaking at the hydro cylinder so that needs replacing and couldn get used to the steering going over centre and having to fight to get it back nearly caused me to hit a tire wall hard in the s's, its a horrible feeling..but i kept her lit and tried to get close to wall on the straight as i could getting bit more ballsy with each lap..my last session was defo the best for quality of my driving. i had a ball and will efo be at the next one ...my drivers seat is now in getin a low fixed rail made as yesterday was the most uncomfortable drivin position ever with my head pinned to the roof and has my neck in bits today..

the tings i need for next day are,

hydro line replaced
new mani gasket
new turbo gasket
new fmic and hard pipes

and if money allows start upgrading suspension arms

Amm mine does that but afaik thats down to running alot of caster...do you know how your suspension has ben set up or did they do it when she was an academy car?

im not sure jeff the only arms i can see ungraded are front tension rods and car has adjustable top mounts so there is neg camber on the front..

i used drive that car loads doing passanger spins and stuff like that ste!!

one of the best of the academy cars!!
its set up with a load of castor and it has the 1 euro coins in the rack i think
it used go overcentre a lot and the wheel used wobble more than any car iv driven ha
but some cars are just like that
the offset rack spacers will stop it going overcentre...or if you want to go mad move the rack forward!!
not a whole pile you can do about the steering wobble though just hold on tight!!:cool: haha

Ya 1st time i drove mine in punchestown i found the wobble feirce weird but its something you get used to youd almost miss it if it wasnt there and ya kev i drove this aswell shes a nice little car ...shes well set up but ste id say definitely get the rack spacers cause going over centre isnt a nice thing to happen and there only 70 pound

well began gettin the shitty bits done before its next day out..

replaced the leaking hydro line with a new braided one from murray motorsport. we used a banjo bolt instead of the 90 degree bend on the old one so hopefully shouldn leak..

then removed all the wheels and bled the brakes and hydro and all seems ok with that now only took few mins

also fitted my new fixed seat rail that Joe in custom metal works.ie made for me had to get it made few inches lower and bit closer to wheel as i feel more comfortable sittin up close so big upo to joe for that....

hope to pick up some corner lights for it and a bigger fmic this week and hopefully some new arms ordered or bought too

well as the car is not kept 40miles from me i only get to work on it one day a week so collected few small bits during the week... the car will have a full suspension setup carried out by wez in wkd before i get it out at another practise day..

first thing i got was this off lukeworx, the core is alot larger than wats fitted now and pipework is also wider.

i then got a omori water temp gauge off scamper today which was faulty so the issue was quickly agreed upon betwen us and the gauge was binned.. so got these this evening off baz at bsp imports.. i know its not the best brand but at 25euro for everything ya cant complain..25euro got me the rad hose insert the gauge and a mounting plate for it so i well happy

was originally only buyin the arms but found out he had the bushed sub frame so was rude to leave it there....

the dw bushes are brand new, as are the dw traction arms and the dw toe arms,the cusco camber arms are used...

the sub frame was black when collected it as were the camber arms... so sprayed the camber arms back cusco blue and just used the last of a tin of hammerite i had on the sub frame..

got the last of my replacement exhaust gaskets there the other day, manifold gasket was 42euro from nissan and decat gasket was 8euro off ebay

had no work today so went to cavan to do a few bits on the car, got more done than expected. I was weary bout doing rear subframe myself as i haven a clue bout mechanics but got stuck in.. took 5hrs but i was alone and hadn a clue wat i was at...

just lifted car with trucks tail lift to get height on the axle stands for more room to work

i previously asked how to remove the subframe and few lads mentioned havin to use a 32 socket on hubs but the way i done it was

remove exhaust from cat back, remove coilovers,remove arb, remove calipers and tie them up outta the way, undo diff from prop shaft, undo half shafts, drop the diff, undo the 4 nuts holding frame up and drop frame, then remove all arms and transfer hubs still attached to wishbones half shafts etc to the new sub frame

WILL THAT BE OK???

well comin together now, davie came and helped me out big stlye yesterday would have been lost without him.... in the space of 5 and a bits hrs we got subframe back in,diff back in and connected,half shafts connected,front steering arms fitted,2 new tires fitted and davie also refitted the standard mani along with some new mani and turbo gaskets..

i went up today to finish few bits off but got fuck all done due to it being pissing rain, i got my exhaust back on along with new decat gasket, dropped car back on the ground only to notice its hunting like fuck so that will have to be looked into all ic pipes seem ok....

problem now is that with how the arms were set the drivers back wheel is sittin too far toe out to allow it go on trailer so will fit narrower wheels just to get it on trailer to get to wez's as i wouldn know wat to be doing to adjust it...

well things have been quiet on this lately due to money primarily, but left car down to wez on tues for alignment and set up of all the suspension arms and collected the car this morning.

recommend him to anyone as he answered i had in relation to the suspension and advised me on wat else to maybe lookin into upgrading..

so will have the car at the m1 drift day next sunday so will hopefully notice a difference..

i just got few lil tiny bits this week..

i said id go all out refurbing so took out bolts and started sanding corrosion etc but lost interest after 2 hrs so the way they came up is how there staying...

the fronts are very weak offset and only a 8j but strangly enough this suits me as my car trailer is quite narrow so it helps me in this case..

as ya can see they are in need of a refurb as were the rears so will tackle that tomorrow , i just removed all the locking studs from the wheels this evening..

not perfect my fucking ring i just split my ssr meshes and the rim is absolute shit have to get it powder coated i say you should throw a few coats of laquer over those itd really help brighten them up and youd get a nice shine off the rim :D

well after the day in balbriggan it is like a new car to me now..

since mondello i have -

replaced all gaskets, the car now pulls great and boosts nice and steady..

replaced leaking hydro line, still may be air in system didnt work great but might increase handle length

fitted all adjustable arms and sold rear bushes and got it set up by Wez..
this is where i noticed biggest difference.The car was unreal to drive in comparison to before, i had so much more grip than before, no understeer, nice even tire wear and i felt alot more comfortable when transitioning..

all in all had a great day even tried getting close to bales although i gave them a bit of a bang once ha ha

well fuck all really happening here as of late had my second day out in balbriggan drifting and had a shitty day drivin wise, think i spun more often than not... also blew the turbo near the end of the day and annoyed me a lil..

so went up to cavan today to empty all the shit from car and sort out the shed where all my parts are kept and decided to sand these out as they have been driving me mad since gettin the car..now i no its a drift car but who sprayed the car should NEVER be let near a spray gun....

so the plan is to repair bumpers somewhat and just blow car over in matt black as its nice and cheap and easy to repair when the car gets hit again... if i get better and more confident ill look into gettin it sprayed if i decide to hit pd next year

got back up to cavan to the car yesterday and got cracking, i done the car matt black which has been done to death I KNOW but i like it and its a very cheap fix while i still learning....

the repaint from start to finish including sandpaper,sanding discs,fibreglass kit,tub of filler, tins of primer and the tins of matt black only cost 137.60 so im very happy as "stevie wonders paint job is now gone"..

also got some 25mm spacers and done some tinkering to allow me fit the front advans as the weak offset meant they were rubbing coilovers,so thats all sorted now

well got my new s15 turbo fitted just before the last practise day, was a cunt of a job for me as it was my 1st time doing it...

the car ran spot on no issues at all really thank god apart from blowing a hole in a silicone intercooler joiner..

so all is good now for the moment just have to repair front bumper and lower seat rails before its next day out,
