is my diff gone???

the other night one of the lads was driftin in my bmw there was a loud banging as he was going up the road so i stopped him and started to drive home a mile and a half later i hear a boom car wont drive like clutch is gone it just revs out...

so i pump clutch its still perfect car engages gears but revs out

i got car home today jacked up the propshaft is spinning

the two halfshafts are jumpin like they want to spin but cant

the car will engage 2nd and 4th gear but wont stay in 1st 3rd or 5th

another lad who dropped the car to my house for me reckons its the diff?

is it or wdc with some gears not engaging

can someone shine some light please

when it went bang i was on a hill the car went into all the gears without a bother as i tried em all to try stop rolling back down the hill just revved out wudnt go anywhere

it was only 2 days later after getin car home of trailor it wud no longer go into 1st 3rd and 5th

when u put it in 2nd and release clutch u can see propshaft spinning two halfshafts jumping but not spinning and theirs a knocking coming from diff 1 lads said so im rightly confused

Shite your a bit far away from me to pop down look at it.. If you jack the rear of the car up and lock the prop with a prybar or something, can you turn both wheels?

the lad who caused issue is a mechanic hes just being a bollix tbh im going to have to drag em up tomorrow to see whats actualy wrong hell be fixin it himself!

jack up the car and drain the diff oil and take off the diff casin,mit be cwp

its the fact its not engagin gears now is whats startin to wory me as it was fine when i parked it up:(

engine mount snapped so thats why wudnt go into gears so changed mount its grand again

car still not driving when i put it into 1st gear the propshaft spins

when car is off in neutral both wheels can be turned opposite directions freely by hand and propshaft doesnt spin

so the diff must be the issue?can anyone think of atin else

unbolt 2 half shafts and prop unbolt anti roll bar and swing it down and unbolt the diff and drop :D
