View Full Version : Turbo Question!
Hey lads was just wondering, I know there are a few different types of T28 turbos but was wondering is the gti-r T28 a ball bearing turbo or not and is it the same or similar to the s15 bb turbo?
Im looking to put this on my 180, will it be ok?
Thanks
not sure of the exact spec of the gtir turbo but i know it is differant to all other t28s and im pretty sure its not a ball bearing...thats not to say it wont fit!

.6 and .8 are the factory boost settings
set to 0.6 and 0.8 bar boost pressure from standard that is....

depends how cheap!! your average s15 turbo goes for around 300 euros, so if there is a big saving go for it, they are laggier then the s15 turbos though

the s15 turbo is prob the best turbo upgrade for 180sx/s14 for the moneys nice spool from them and can push them for 330bhp thel take 1.3 bar
What rev range would it be coming on boost at?

the s15 tubby is a ballbearing turbo which means quicker spool and more responsive people upgrade to the s15 tubby for all these reasons, their is very little lag with an s15 turbo also. how much can u get the gti-r turbo for
100 quid. Waiting for him to send me on pics
100 quid. Waiting for him to send me on pics
buy it god bless us 100notes cant go wrong and if it does its only a ton haha
but theres a bitta work to fitting this to your car not direct swap but not much work either
It is a direct swap sure the gtir is an sr20 aswell, same engine just swap manifolds me thinks

the water and oil lines are slightly dif you wil havto do a bit of bendin but u bil get it on arite just be gentle and patiant ha

aswell as the lines being diffferent ..the joint were your intercooler joins to the turbo is 2 bolt instead of your 180sx 3 bolt

I agree. S15 is better option. GTIR turbo is an older journal bearing design and will be less responsive. For the sake of 200 euros extra you would be better off with the S15 turbo

Exactly the kinda answer I was lookin for thanks, not being a hump with the notes was curious as I didnt know anything about the gtir turbo

Does a 15bb just fit straight in a 180?

make sure you get actuator and if u can try get oil and water lines aswel as the s15 bb is slightly bigger than standard tubby
