View Full Version : Sil80 Rebuild For 2011!!!

Well lads built the drift car last summer an was out 6 or so times in it only for it too overheat and loose compression!!! Im hoping to strat prodrift this year cars fairly up to spec just needs a few things so im goin doing a full engine rebuild with uprated parts!!!
Heres a few pics of the work so far, guna start buying parts once its stripped peice by peice as moneys tight!!!

Sound lad, only doin a hour or so a night so very slow but no rush at the moment!!!!

best of luck man i blew the headgasket aswell on mine and decided just to replace the headgasket but next thing i knew i had gotten a bigger turbo custom intake manifold reworked head reshell the list goes on



the last time i saw that car a sledge hammer was about to be used on the drivers rear quarter lol

haha thats true got a smack at rosegreen alright,its staght again,color doesnt exactly match but shes a drift bus!!!!

Took head of today and the headgasket was in shite taught it had a metel headgasket it only had a standard one!!!!
The bores look good no scoring really could do with honing the bore as its fairly shiney an smooth,
Head looks ok but needs to be skimmed tho.
Will remove pistons crank etc tomoz if i get time see the condition of them an check tolerances!!!

Sound lads slow work but shud have it all stripped 2moz took 2 nights so far so time to see what i need an upgrade tomoz.
On the list,
acl race bearings,
acl or arp headbolts,
cosworth gasket thickness depends on skimming,
all new oem gaskets rocker,mani,inlet etc,
new exhaust an inlet valve stem seals,
reseat an ground valves,
piston rings

thats what i have in my head cant afford bigger pistons an rebore,but shud be healty with the above done!!!!! ill work on injectors,z32 afm,turbo etc after rebuild when money comes my way!!!

What's wrong with Nissan bearings???why does everyone go for acl when they only last 10k???

People will prob ask you to back up your comment, who says they last 10k? What is better about acl bearings if Nissan Ones last long enough as it is?

decided to go with acl race bearings as most people tend to go with them!!havent herd they last 10k tho!!! its a track car so ill get alot of use outa 10k!haha anything better thats affordable to go with other than acl?? opinions please!!!

Only did a small bit today, took the gearbox off thats being changed for this year too have the new box already, then took the clutch off an loadsa meat left so ill use that still took the fly off to thats in good condition also removed the lower sump.will remove the pistons tomoz and check the crank etc!!!

Well stripped rest of engine as far as crank seen enough at that stage!!! found that there is damage to all pistons and on 2 of them the rings have got squashed, theres light marks up along the bore nothing major but the top of the bore doesnt look great so im thinking new block,piston and rings!!!
Any one have a s14 block in good condition!!

cant wait for pd,, itll be sum craic!!!! :) hopefully ill hav sumtin bought to put beside ya next year :P
