Ok, just going to copy from other forums and paste. this started about two months ago, if that!

Ok, hello

I wasnt going to start this thread yet but im soooo excited about the hole project i cant keep my mouth shut :D

S14 has gone to its new home , here is its replacement, considering iv never even looked at the chassis befor, just thoght "I want that one" and i know diddley squat about 2jz's iv got my work cut out!!!! Im not even sure if the engine will fit in the hole yet :wack: Thogh there is an rb26 left hooker knocking about that gives me some reasurance that things will kinda fit.

So i pic this up early next week :D ugly ****er aint it :wack:

Epracing have this Dmax kit on order

http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt37/AZG35/Lowered/P5151025.jpg

So, plan is get the car on the ramp early next week and asses the chassise, steering and suspension, to see what iv let my self in for and see what can be done.

Then strip it down to a rolling shell, selling most of it :wack:, trial fit the 2jz then off to have a cage fitted.

Then its just a bit vauge from then on :D

Im set on a 2jz at 600hp and have one lined up but there is another engine potential also 600hp but 3.8ltr v6 twin turbo ;) Just got to work out if i can relisticly do that as it would with out doubt be one of the coolest modern drift cars!!

Watch this space, im sure its going to get interesting :D

Got my mate to draw up my rollcage design tonight as i tryed it with pen and paper, it just wasnt working out lol :wack:

This is obv not to scale, its to purley show the design so i can pass it to the guy making the cage. Obv there will be gusets down the A and B post, along with tying it in any where that is close tot he body. The bar accross the floor will have a removable brace attached to the two spreader plates that will go under the gear box. Im not 100% sure i can run the front tubes exactly like this until i have the dash out and inspect the bulk head and turrets, it will also be a smaller diamiter tube and the main hoop a larger diamiter. Il most likely be adding in a few more tubes at the back to tie in to the rear subframe. Also the rear turrets will be getting extra plates as il be converting the rear suspension to coil spring over damper.

Ok, collected the car last night and headed to Garage-D to collect the front sump needed for the conversion and the prop.

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/003-10.jpg

While there we chucked it on the ramp to inspect the chassis, see what could be done etc.
We mesured the wheel base and its 12" longer than an s14!!! Thogh the car may not be longer the G35 has hardly any over hang. Its also 2" wider.
Other things i noticed wer its got a saloon type boo where the window stays down unlike a Z. Also on the way back i found its got DVD player and TV lol. And its got twin front lower arms like the modern BMW's, Jags Audi etc, i thoght they had one solid lower arm.

Back at HQ this morn, the last pics youl see of it looking like a normal car and the 1st!

So got the car int he back of the workshop jacked up and sat level.

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/019-10.jpg

Next was to get the right bellhousing on the box, get the box mounted to the motor and get the motor in the final posision! This took a good few maybe 4 hours to get right!!
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/011-9.jpg

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/022-7.jpg

Why it took so long was due to having to take in to account clearance on clutch master, steering colomn, sump, subframe, inlet and exhast manifolds.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/024-6.jpg

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/029-5.jpg

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/039-4.jpg

Managed to get it quite far back, front pulley is flush with the front of the front wheels and the ARB (note back on the 1st few pages this is where the vq35 sat too. And that 3 cylinders shorter)
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/028-6.jpg

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/034-5.jpg

The bigest prob was the sump, this is how its going to sit, so im having to prety much make a new sump and modifie the pick up.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/042-3.jpg

Neither the engine or gearbox mounts are finished yet, just fitted for now until iv made the sump, then once i take the motor back out to do the rest of the shell prep il finish the bracing on the mounts.

Started to make the sump, mesured it takes 5ltrs, so once im done i want it to hold as close to that as poss again.

This is the latest update, today, the others have mainly been over the last week since it came back from having the cage fitted.

Not really alot to update,

Seing as its and auto shell and its going to be manual, a little work is needed in this area. I managed to get a manual brake and clutch pedal from some one on another forum, but there was no where to really mount it like on s-bodies, also, i could not find a slave for a 350gt or z so im using an s14 one, so.................

Cheers guys!!

Bit of an update, been busy the last 3 days.

Got a Dymo to do sticker lables for the switchs, but it looks poo so iv borrowed a Brother lable printer. This is what it looks like with Dymo, prety poo, not to mention how crooked they are!!
The Brother is much better, prints smaller so i dont have to abbreviate so much and its black print on white back, so will be better in the dusk to see.

They are for engine coolant, gearbox oil, power steering fluid, engine oil and intercooler. Im also adding 6 water jets and 10ltr water drum to spray them all to keep the temps down! Plan is to be over in Europe quite a bit this year so with the hotter temps im not taking any risks with cooling!

Yea il be over for atleast one round of prodrift again!!
But its mainly for BDC and other events in europe.
Time for an update!

Been busy mocking up the front end, pipe work, coolers etc!! Damn its tight up there! If i ever have a bump on the front il be out for that day!! Hence the crash bar staying there, among other reasons!

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/P0l0200sxy/075-4.jpg

The intercooler pipe work is now ready for welding, just going for one pipe each side, so less silicon needed.
Trick with the pipe work on this is to keep it high on the hot side so i can get the air filter under it, seing as there is not alot of space the filter will be up against the pipe work, so having the hot pipe high is better for heat reasons. Also the pipe work has to be as far forward as poss as the wheels are not far from each corner, giving hardly any room infront of the wheel, especialy on lock!

1st even competition is 23rd April but i have a demo i want to do at the start of April.

They are not tension rods, this is basicly an sbody setup but upside down, the bent arm is infact the camber arm ont he 350z/350gt. The stock one is also bent, this is due to the route of the ARB. The japspeed ones are ever so slightly more bent, allowing the car to be dropped lower.

The nuts and bolts wer acid bathed then electro plated in yellow BZP. (zink)
I get nuts and bolts redone for every engine build or major job i do. Cost £20 a time for a box like what i had done. You can also get other colours, but the yellow is in the nissan theam.

Does it make the nuts stonger or prevent them rusting, or it just to keep an sort of oem feel to it? Epic build, those arches on the back are mahoosive, they swallow up the 18s for breakfast. Will you be coming to Ireland this year?

Its to remove the rust and so they look like new. There is no heat involved in the process so does not effect the strength.

I will yes, aslong as PD actully run this year :)

If JDM runs this year theres a possablity i may show at a few of the rounds yes, but its att he bottom of my priority list tbh. I already have two trips to Portugal and one to Germany/the ring booked, along with the hole of the BDC and a few PD, itl be hard to fit any thing else in or afford to do much more.

I really hope it goes ahead, im sure it will. But you could come over the water, its not that far ;) ferry for competitors is not "that" expensive. For spectators, you can get rail and sale for €40 each way.

I agree it looked wank on wanders r34, sticking out wider than the body of the car and just not suiting it atal, but on the 350gt its about 3-4inch narrower than the rear archs. I think it really suits it and is the exact look i wanted, remote control car stylie :)

Front to rear lines, note the fuel pic up pot, normaly the car will have one in the drivers side which has a pic up in each side of the tank, i have got a second one from Zmanalex on the 350zuk forum, so i will run one pic up pot each side of the tank and two pic up points in each side. Luky the walbro pumps are a direct swap for the storck pump, even the elec plug is the same.

This is not required with the way I have wired it, once the kill spitch is turned off it disconnects the battery and aulternator from every thing else. I'm not having and "ignition switch" as the master kill will power up every thing, and a starter button to start.

Polo
27-02-11, 18:59
Main power supply,

Black box = starter motor
Red box = Battery
Yellow box = Aulternator
Grey box = Power distribution box
Blue circle = master kill switch

This way, im using the kill switch as ignition switch, i will not have to use one of the 6 pin kill switchs, just the two pin.

centre bulb is the warning light, the arrows are diodes, the box at the top is a flasher relay, switch in the middle is the indicator switch, switch at the bottom is hazard switch.

Jesus, ive just realised how much of an awesome build this is.
Attention to detail is as good as ive seen. Its obvious you have lots of experiance with drift cars, what problems to try and prevent and what way to bolt them together.

Hope the car performs as well as the you deserve after all this effort and clever idea's.

After making the 3" exhaust, i desided 3" probs wont be enough for 650-700hp, so i made a hole new system out of 3.5" to the Y peice at the back where is goes in to twin 3".

After a few days of fecking about, i figered that the two cam shaft sensors wer the wrong way round and she fired up streight away.
