not to worry though because the car arrived asap and even though some prat broke though the back window, perpex is cheap and after a drive in the car i was absolutly chuffed at how well it handled and went compared to any other cam i ever had!

I got it home and after a few local outtings and 2 track days up in roscommon i decided to give prodrift a shot, it was my first competion and my first time down at the rosebowl.

i decided to give the car a splash of paint and decided on a ford orange after seeing a gorgous mk2 escort in the same colour

Seeing the oval in rosegreen for the first time in person was quite intimidating to say the least and i was quite happy when i discover the amatures ran the inner track. Morning and afternoon progressed quite well i was comfortable in the car although the lack of a hydrolic handbrake was annoying the hell outta me as i was having trouble locking up the back wheels which left me having to work hard to get sideway into two of the corners on the tight inside track.
After qualifying i was delighted to hear i placed 12th! Although happy i new i could do better.

We got the news that after a break for lunch we would be hitting the big oval and the same track as the pros use. After one of the first runs one of the oval one of the driver suffered from understeer and hit the wall, suddenly the reality of that big concrete wall and a low powered car really hit home. I decided to play it safe and slowly build up my confidence on the big oval and after a few runs i was feeling fairly good about the car and linking from the oval into the inner track. Even though the car was setup slighty to hard for the rough outter track i decided to stick with the setup i had for qualifying.

After a few good runs i found myself in the quater finals against a very sweet looking candy red ps13 from limrick. Being honest a heavy shower of rain at this point was my saviour preety much elimating the disavantage of having a lower powered car. I was running 55-60 psi in the back tyres all day while it was dry so i reduced this to 35. It was ridiculous how slippy the track got with the rain and after both of us spun on each others lead lap it went to a final run which i managed to edge it and proceeded to the semi-finals to face a black sr20 from limrick (apoligies his name slips me atm).

After the heavens opening i let out more pressure from the tyres which seemed to do the trick as my competitor spun while leading leaving the door open for me to go through to the final. In the final i faced the giuseppe pizza s15 driver who was driving his mates blue s14 for the day.

At this stage the track was starting to dry makng life difficult for both of us and after 6-4 4-6 the final was brought to a re-run. I was delighted at how the day went and decided to just go for it. i lead first and pushed to hard coming into the inner track hit some of the wetter track and spun. On the follow i pushed hard but no mistake was made and i held my hands up to a deseved winner.

I was delighted with my second place and place in mondays pro day (killarney rally was on) the last time rosegreen would be run for prodrift. Monday came and it was a scorcher of a day. i had some problems on the day and didnt get to qualify which lead me to have preety much the whole car rewired.

Heres a small clip from the qualifying lap i did get in that day

After getting the car up and running again i ended up selling the engine and box with the plan to convert to a sr20 set up. Shortly after i ran into some health issues and the car took a back foot. And i lost interest in the project.

A while back i picked up a redtop sr20 and box for resonable money reigniting the origional plan. As things stand i have some dishy 15s, downpipe, mani, engine, box, engine mounts and gearbox mounts all gathered but been on the dole is making progress slow. Plans are to get an alloy rad and possibly v-mount the intercooler and hopefully win the lotto making everything i want to do a hell of a lot easier....Long winded terrible what boardom will do to ya :D

cheers man, didnt think youd be in favour of the sr20 :p but needs be and i had a 16v cam aswell at the time i sold it so it didnt bother me, origional plan was to build a 7agte (not sure if youd view that any better either) had a engine got and all but it just worked out a hole lost less complicated with a sr20.
Unfortunly the equip wheels never made it over to ireland much to my annoyance
