after i had a little off in the last round of prodrift in fermoy i decided i would be better off to just do a full rebuild and do all the things that needed to be done.
thi is what the car looked like after the slap:
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/OConnell.jpg
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0802.jpg

http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0805.jpg

so i started stripping pretty much straight away:
subframe out

subframe stripped:
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0830.jpg

started stripping the engine bay:
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0834.jpg

a bit more:
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0835.jpg

engine out:
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0837.jpg
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0839.jpg

crossmember out:
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0840.jpg

engine bay completly empty of everything:
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0841.jpg

look at the amount of fuckin wiring that came out:eek:
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0842.jpg

inside pretty much stripped:
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz165/180sx_driftr/100_0831.jpg

when i had it stripped to a complete shell i realised that it was a bit rusty to do all the work i wanted to do on it so when i saw steven shines shell for sale i decided it would be a great base to work on so i bought that off him and sold my old shell.
im planning on doing a good bit of work on this over the winter break so keep an eye on this space:)
any imput and ideas would be greatly appreciated:)

wat the plans for next year lad

well i have a good bit planned actually but at the top of the list is more lock and stopping bump steer...me and my dad just finished modifying the crossmember today:) we moved the rack 25mm forward:eek: it actually cant go any further forward lol...ill get pics up of it as soon as i can:D

It can go further if you use offrack spacers lad.....! Good work.....! What you gonna do with the wiring.....!

ya i was thinking that alright...ill try this first and then if it doesnt solve the problem ill use them:)
tjanks though lad!
ill be trying to get rid of as much of it as possible...things like lights and all that shouldnt be a problem...id just be worried about going near the ECU:o

How exactly? 25mil is about as far as you can go... Could just use off set spacers, they give about the same push forward...But you cant use both together Robbie if thats what your thinkin.

ya shur the offset spacers are about the same as that arent they?...id say this is about as far as it will go...the rack is right up against the crossmember now...any more would be pointless id say or am i wrong:confused:

Your right there ted! You could run without wishbone bolts and get a few more mil, but it wouldn't be very safe!!

Exactly! Any more on the rack and you start cutting major chunks out of the engine mount platform, put on the offset spacers and you hit the wishbone bolts with the inner tie rod. Getting around these problems is def a lot of unwanted hassle! We did keaneo's cars rack 25 mil forward and took about the same out of the steering arms on the hubs. Got great lock on the leading wheel without going over centre. Have you any picture of the crossmember?

i did a bit of work on the back subframe this evening...
i burned out the rubber bushes and welded in metal discs using the old metal centers...
i made it so that they are flush with the tops of the subframe though...this will bring the subframe up about 10 or 15 mil meaning that my back arms will be a little straighted than before...
i know its not a lot but every bit makes a difference:p

anyway pics speak better than words so here they are:)

I didn't read what yo did the properally my bad....! I dunno lad iv never done trhis tbh.....! I heard of lads lowering the front of the subframe down with a spacer or a couple of washers and it moves your lower arm slighty and is supposed to give you more grip.....! Like i said iv only heard about this but i know martin french has done this and its supposed to make a difference....! B

Good idea to get the subframe up as much as possible.
Some lads fill the cavities with expandable foam to stiffen up the frame.

I douth it'll hit the body by much if any, nothing a big hammer would'nt fix :D

I could be mixing it up with something else but i think bringing the subframe closer to the body will help with correcting alignment that gets thrown out if you go really low. I think mitto was talking about it on driftworks and i've seen it a lot on american forums.

Anyways throw up some pics of this new shell:D
