View Full Version : 180SX, strange new noise....
Keli's car started making a new whirring noise the other day. It's fairly loud when the car is cold but once it warms up the noise dies down a little. I made a video of it yesterday. Take a listen and hopefully one of you can tell us what it is. Hopefully it's nothing terminal.

check the ps fluid level greg, might be low causing the pump to get noisey.
Ten points for Alan and Kev. I checked the power steering fluid before I went to collect herself, and it was low. Luckily I had some out in the shed so topped it up and the noise has gone. :)
Ya they eat the stuff, the lines corrode, just always have a bottle of ATF handy.
SNAP....
Thats gas, my auld fella came home today and his car (05 astra) was making an awful noise, i checked all the usuals and forgot about power steering fluid, came in and saw this, and thought of it, went out and BOOM, its sorted ....no more noise!!!:):)
the power steering pump is fucked on it theres no fluild in it or its leaking and its cosing that nosie the pipe that goes on to the pump leaks mine was the same
The only reason I had a bottle of ATF is because my Supra was fond of it too. :)
@ Scamper - that's gas alright. Brownie points for us two for saving the day. :D
Thanks for the help everyone :D
1 more problem off the list!
