Something ive always wondered about after watching various vids from other countries is why PD for example have never ran a road event? Is it a matter of cost? Legality? Like if there was a section of road used for a hillclimb style event using PD logged cars? Id love to see it happen, doubt it will but just wondering why it never happens?

Would be uber-cool to be fair. Would it take much to get a drift car into a proper hillclimb event i wonder?

up north here there was a hill climb and a local drifter "andy cooper" took his car up it and the hill climb guys seemed to love it... here a vid of him..

The fact that Drifting isnt recognised by MSI leaves it very tricky for the likes of PD to gain access to Councils etc to close the roads required to run these events.

MSI has a guy that deals directly with County Councils and district councils on MSI's behalf in order to close roads and have permission granted etc.

Ive look into this in recent months,Aside from the cost factor involved it would take huge effort and staffing to run a road drift/hillclimb event when you dont specialise in that area.

Public Liability is mental money for it.
With regard to crowd excess how do you contain it and charge admission without fencing off an area of 10km radius which at that point the cost of your crowd control fencing will outway your addmission money.

Loads of factors why this wouldnt be a success!

Another reason why this country is gay!

Could always just enter a Hillclimb or rally sprint in the drift car. You can get them logged once they are up to spec. Problem with most drifters doing it is the license requirement, would be limited to 1.6 cars and below for bit.

ive been talking to my local club for a couple of years trying to do this.

and most of the hillcimbers dont want drift cars on the hills.! the amount of lads bad mouthing drifting that do hillclimbs is reckless sick of listening to it..

your car would have to be log booked to FIA standard. and also you just cant jump into a 2.0 car and go up a hill you can only go 1600cc max until you have so many events finished... then you can get your 2ltr licence.

it would cost a good amount to close a road. i no for a rally i think a stage is someting like 20,000 euros or more everyting in including abulance and radios everyting.

ive been trying to get into the guys who do the hills that it would be savage for drift cars to take to the hills and get rid of single seaters for a couple of events.. i would bring in a new audience..

some lads who compete love the drift cars but others have referred to drifters as
"lads with daddy's money"!
lads who cant drive and only go sideways etc...... ive heard it all.
i am thinking of making my skyline FIA approved as sprint and drift car after a while so i can use it on a few hills

theres a guy from the north who runs some of the hills and full tarmac rally sprints in the likes of mondello and up the north and its nothing to do with MSI and you can do what you want , maybe thats the guy??
