View Full Version : Possible to areosol paint a car satin black??

I'm lookin into painting a full car satin black it's just for track days so it likely to get a couple of tips here and there and it would be handy to have it in satin black so ya could do cheap repairs yourself and keep it straight enough.

Can you buy proper satin black now with all paint being water based?
I'm fairly handy with the rattle can with a good prep and heat ya can do a good job but I never used it on a large area.
I've painted bumpers on Ferrari's with rattle can black for very picky customers and had no problems:eek:
what they don't know won't hurt right:)

Anyone ever try this??

yeah we painted a good few bits on alan opels cars with rattle cans and it came out savage! its all in the prep work!

it is indeed, and i have 6 x 500ml cans of Proper Matte Black CAR paint for sale for 50 quid if ur looking, should have plenty to do an average car, there very big cans

Satin black has gotten fairly old these days.... satin reds and blues also look cool!

matt purple is a cool colour. at night you'd swaer blind it was nato green.

my car is just rattle can matte black, not a bother on it. just to warn you that you will not be able to clean it, easier to just respray it again but other than that .....DO IT!

if ya clean it too much you polish the matt effect out of it basically.

no but wouldn't take much to scratch it off. but you can keep an auld can in the car with ya and touch up as you go..... you'd never know where its been topped up, its great in that way. but the cleaning, it picks up dust like nothing on earth and cause its not a smooth smooth finish it wont wipe of like on normal paint, it kind of gets ingrained in it, and when you wet it it just goes all streakey. best bet is to paint it again if your really fussy. but i think the dusty look adds to it. shows up the lines of the car...

you might be better off wrapping it in satin black vinyl
R tape is a brand that do a really nice satin its marked as matt buts its satin black plus holds up better than spray cans & covers up not so deep scuffs & scrapes

no you wont you could prob do it your self for 250 with sum skill & cheap vinyl but if you add up all the touch ups chips & shit when you try & wash it in the long run mite be the cheaper option

yeah ill be doing my skyline in aersol in matt black soon.. i did a bit inside my car for a test and it came out with a savage finish. i got my stuff in EPT in carlow cheap as chips
