View Full Version : Anyone work for ford/seat/vw??
As above anyone on here work for ford or maybe even seat/vw as its the same family model..
Got a 00 facelift galaxy 1.9tdi for herself during the week and she rang me there earlier saying theres no power in it(not the turbo) foot to the floor on the motorway and dropped from 6th down to 4th to have it driveable, pulled in turned it off for 10mins and it drove perfect to where she was going...
She went on another short spin and it done it again..
Sensor possably or ecu going into safe mode??
Only picked it up tuesday and its driven 110% so its intermittent or with my luck a new problem
Anyone got any idea's, i wont get to/at the car till tomorrow at sum stage, so any ideas or suggestions??
AFM I'd imagine,Give woefull issues on them!
does it get smokey when the power dies, egr valve sticking open?
Had very same problem with my tdi passat.... Turned out it was a tiny pin hole in one of the pipes goin to some sort of boost solinoid causin it to over boost and go into some sort of limp mode.. Changed the pipe and she's been mint since :)
you could be guessing quite a while there... best bet is get it to a garage that does diagnostics and see what fault codes are listed. shouldnt cost more than 40euro to find out. might be cheaper in the end rather than replacing stuff...
Cheers lads at least theres a few things to check!!
Only €40 for diagnostics?
Only €40 for diagnostics?
thats what my garage charges anyways and they are specialists for euro cars

it could b ur map sensor, as said above ur boost pressure sensor also gives trouble on thoes , or an afm, also had a few with down in power and it turned out to be the turbo at the end of it

First thought was turbo, but when you turn it off and then back on its perfect again so seems its going into limp mode??
I can plug it in and read it for you if you need?

well if it hapens and u turn on and off the key its ur boost soleniod vw are murder for that hve a 99 passat here doing the same thing they over boost and wen u turn on and off the key it resets it, normall hapens around 80mph i though
boost sol or vanes on turbo could be clogged!
leave yer A/F meter alone;)

Ben Hachi on here works for ford,
i had trouble with one of those before, check all vacum pipes, hoses around the manifold first.... if theres no errors on the dash 9/10 its not a sensor, but sometimes it can be a sensor and no warning lights come on

i also work for ford and their will be no light show if its the boost solenoid or the map sensor
it sounds like limp mode alright. and it could be ANYTHING thats causing it.
the mothers car drove perfectly, but when it rained heavily, it would chug a bit and put itself into limp mode limiting the revs to about 3. and no matter what, wouldnt go above that, even dropping from 5th to 3rd wouldnt do it.
in my case it was the wiring going to the crank senor getting wet and tripping a crank sensor fault. leave it running to dry out and it would start up fine again.
quick blast of water and she'd die again.
diagnostics is the only way you are going to find the issue.
Cheers for all the replys lads!! Got it sorted the pipe from the back of the air filter box came off, no fookin clip on it  the missus done a gud job describing what was wrong lol :D
